- (continued from previous page)the poor man suspected no danger, when all of a sudden he encountered this monster (a ghost I suppose) on the avenue, which is still there. The poor priest had left his stole behind and I suppose the monster knew this. The ghost attacked him savagely and beat him to death. I am told the roars and calls of the poor priest could be heard for a mile around but only by a few timid worthless people, and the unfortunate man was done to death.
He was buried outside the church called "Old Convent" and the track of his grave is there to this day. I believe I am the only one now who can point out this grave. It is there without anything to point out whether man or beast is buried there, as cattle pass and re-pass over it to get shelter from the sun in warm weather. I can vouch for this story and site of grave, as very few who are living now had an opportunity of getting the facts but myself. My father told me this and showed me the spot where the priest lies.
We have owned this land for twenty years. Before it was owned by prodestants for generations.- Collector
