   Pencil marks are put on eggs for hatching so that they can be known from any other eggs which might be layed amongst them. The sitting consists of eleven eggs, as a rule. many people put a piece of iron under a nest where a hen is hatching, this iron saves the birds in the eggs from being killed by thunder or lightening because both thunder and lightening draw to iron.

   We have a churn at home It is about three feet high and about two feet wide at top and bottom. The sides are round. There is a mark on the top of the churn and another on the lid and those marks are oppisite one another when the lid is on the churn. The butter is made twice a week in Summer and once a week in Winter. The various parts of the churn are the dash, the lid and the clabeen. The clabeen is a round piece of wood which is put down over the lid to
