1. St Brendan's Well (ar lean)

   The well is situated in the centre of a three cornered field. It is situated about a half mile from St. Brendan's House, which was used as a church many years ago. Mass was said in his house every Sunday and priests lived about half a mile from the Church. The house in which they lived is still up and in perfect order. Many persons were married in St. Brendan's House long ago. It is not within two miles of a church still in use. Neither is it near an outstanding landmark, or near the shore of the sea, or of a lake. Neither is it on a height or an island. The field in which it is situated is low lying. Just beside the well is a pond with a broken stone wall around it. These walls are the ruins of a little house in which children were baptised long ago. Growing just beside the well is a white thorn bush, and growing up by the wall of the house is another white thorn bush which crosses from one wall to the other. There is no thorns growing on this bush. There is a stream running from the well into the pond and from the pond into a little river. The water of the well never rises above a certain height. A man named Doran left this three cornered field free of rent.
