1. How the Village of St Brendan's Got its Name (ar lean)

   in which St. Brendan lived are there yet. The people wash themselves in the water which is in the old chapel. They take off their shoes and wash their feet. There was a girl in America who had a needle in her hand for seven years. She went to the well and after going to America the needle came out.

   Long ago on the last week of July the people used to gather and camp in the fields round the blessed well and porter and whiskey used to be sold. Once two men got drunk and began to fight. They were fighting for a long time till at last one of them was killed. He was buried in the old grave yard beside the blessed well. This stopped the sale of drink in the place.
