Food in Olden Times.
The people ate three meals a day, long ago. They always did most of morning's work before eating their breakfast. The breakfast generally consisted of stirabout or potatoes. Milk especially butter-milk was drunk instead of tea by the children. It was a common scene to see a group of children sitting around a pot of potatoes on the floor. They put salt on the potatoes and ate them with butter-milk. Oaten-meal bread was eaten long ago. It was made with water and meal and was baked on a griddle.
