Long ago there lived a king who was very cruel to the poor people, when they wouldn't pay the rent. In the same village there lived a very poor old man and woman whose names where Jerry and Peggy. They had no money to pay the rent only one cow. One day Peggy told Jerry to sell the cow and pay the rent. After supper Jerry set out for the fair in Mines and Peggy gave him a bit of stirabout for fear he would be hungry. When he was gone five miles from home at midnight he met a little red man.
