    There are many ruins of houses in the townland of Newtown. There are three wells in it. There are also many streams in it. There are no rivers or lakes in it.
    Many people emigrated to America long ago from the townland of Newtown. They were three months going in the sailing vessels. Other people emigrated to other countries.
    There is some good land in the townland of Newtown but some of it is wet and bad.
    Long ago there were two woods in the townland of Newtown but they are gone now.
    It is said that after the battle of Aughrim Sarsfield and his army passed through Newtown and Ballinagar on their way to Limerick.
