    porter for him. Just as she had the tap turned on she heard something at the pan in the kitchen and she ran out without turning the tap off. The cat had smelled the meat and had run off with it. She followed him until she was tired. She returned home and the pan was split on the fire. She went into the room and the tank of porter was spilled round the floor. She was in a terrible state, and she did not know how she would get it dried up before her husband arrived. At last she thought of a plan. She got the bag of flour and scattered it round the floor. When her husband arrived he was vexed when he had no dinner to get. When he saw that there was no flour he said to her "we were poor enough without you throwing away the flour." He went to work on the following day. While he was away a Pedlar came to her and she bought all he had from him. When her husband arrived he said to her "you have me robbed". He had only a few
