    Wednesday is the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    And Saturday no luck at all.
    For luck the bride wears something old and something new, something borrowed and something blue.
    The people make oaten bread and they break it over the brides head as she comes in the door.
    It is lucky to break something at wedding. When a girl gets married she cannot go back to her fathers home for a month. The people of Leitrim get married in shrove and on Wednesday. The bride gives money as a fortune.
    Long ago they would not come back the same road from the church when they would be getting married.
    It is unlucky to get married in white. Get married in blue you are sure to be true, get married in white you are chosen all right,
