    On St Bridgets Eve crosses are made of shave oats and hung on to the roof until spring then it is taken down and mixed with the other seed and sown. On chalk Sunday all the unmarried men is marked with chalk. On St Johns night people used to have wisps of straw lighting walking through their crops shaking the cinders on them so that the would have good crops.
