    making these roads. With these few pence they supported their families.
    There are two old roads near my house. They are never used. They are supposed to have been made after the famine. I never saw a cart travelling on these roads. In the centre of one of them there is a hollow. There is always water in this hollow.
    There is an old path in Newforest wood. Along this path the people are supoosed to have gone to Mass during the Penal days. Those paths had to be kept secret. The soldiers were always looking for these paths. They knew the people were hearing Mass secretly.
