- Not far from Ryehill Castle, between Abbey and Newtown, there is an old village called Paddock. In this village there is a field with a big hole, and steps leading into it. At the end of the steps there is an iron door, and inside it there is a man with one hand which he keeps round a pot of gold, and everybody wishing to get this gold has to take off his hand with one blow. But there has to be three lives lost before the gold can be found.
