- About sixty years ago the natives caught fish with a form of net called a "Cocail."
This was made in the shape of an arch closed at one end. It was placed at the end of the river just where it enters the Lough. A man took charge of this holding it in position with the closed end facing the Lough and the open end towards the source of the river. Another man "plunged" the river with a wattle until the meshes of the "Cocsil" were full. Very little Lough fishing was done as the application of the(continues on next page)- Collector
