    "pipe tiles" and bricks were made from blue clay found locally. The clay was dug up and put into a mixing pond where it was well mixed, tempered and walked on. Then it was put into the moulds and left there for about an hour. Next it was left to bleach on the bleach green for about three days after which time they were built in the kiln and turf around them when they were burned.
    The tile was circular in size similar to down spouting cut in lengths. Some of them were two inches in diameter and othes four inches according to what they were required for. These pipes were
