    Many of these stones are to be found in houses in the district and Owen Meehan of Buckode Kinlough Co. Leitrim recently found one in the Aughavohill mountain as he was cutting turf. he also found the roots or remains of piles or stakes stuck in the ground.
    The following story is told about these stakes. About the year 1600 Hugh O"Donnell was defending his own town against the English. He hunted Sir Connors Clifford retreated back to the Dartry mountains and put up in the Aufgavohill mountain which forms part of the former.
