One day a man went out to cut timber and he cut them in a fort. When he came back he got sick and died in a few days. I got this story from my Grannie and she says this event happened in her own house. One Sunday evening about seventy years ago out of a bush a few yards away from the house they saw a woman coming out. The people of the house were standing at the door and the woman came over to them and asked could she sleep in the field of corn beside the house. The man said he couldn't let her sleep in it but he told her she could sleep in the house. She said she couldn't go in to any house until the sun would set. When the sun set they got her in.
The woman of the house made porridge and she offered the stranger some of it. She said she couldn't eat anything only what she'd make herself and she made her own porridge then. About sixty years before that there was a woman living in my Grannie's house and she went out to cover a heap of potatoes in case it would rain. She fell going out and broke her arm.
