- The local roads are known as the Upper Road, the Lower Road and the Old Road. The Lower Road leads from Sligo to Manorhamilton. The Upper Road leads from the Lough Crossroads to Rosses Crossroads where it joins the Lower Road. The Old Road branches from Stranca Crossroads by the Church to Manorhamilton. The Gurteen Road branches from the Old Road at Launtuggart and it goes through Gurteen and back again to the Old Road.
Some of those roads were made during the Famine. The people earned a little money because they were very poor. Those roads are repaired year so as to keep them in good order.
At the end of Glencar Lake there was a ford and it was called Collin's Ford. It(continues on next page)- Informant
