    in each forge for making the shoes on. It is about twelve stone weight.
    The smiths have a good many tools which are of great strength. They have large hammers, nails, irons and chisels. Each smith wears a leathern apron because he has to lift up the animals feet on it.
    The smith makes horse shoes donkey shoes and shoeings for carts. He also makes gates, crooks, spades, shovels, grapes, axes, grates, ploughs, harrows, and pikes. The smiths are looked upon as being very strong men.
    During the summer evenings the boys around the forges gather into the forges to talk and smoke.
