  1. It is a sign of rain to see a blue blaze in the fire; it is also a sign of rain to see a ring round the moon. If the sun goes down in a bank of clouds it is another sign. If swallows fly high it is a sign of good weather if swallow[s] fly low it is a sign of bad weather. If there is a noise in the air it is a sign of thunder, and it there is a lightning it is also a sign of a storm. If black birds are plenfyful, it is a sign of snow. If the train has a heavy noise it is a sign of frost, or if the whitsle of a train has a clear sound it is a sign of frost. It is also a sign of frost to see the sun set a golden color. It is a sign of snow to see big white clouds passing over the skie.
