    townland of Monnagashel. He boils black snails and white ones together and puts the water in which they are boiled into a bottle and leaves it to cool. The person having them has to take this three times. Before his breakfast and after his supper and after a few days they are better again.
    The whooping cough is not counted so bad as the other diseases. The sick person takes a fit of coughing called a kink. The cure is to go out under an ass that never carried a load.
