    The weather for the twelve months of the year is judged by the twelve days after Christmas.
    If the water in the river is black or if there is a loud noise from the falls it is a sign of rain.
    If the rain rises on St. Swithin's bay provisions will be dearer and if it falls provisions will be cheaper.
