- Old people used to say it was not right to cut a bush in a fort. On one occasion a man cut a bush in a fort, and while doing so he took a fierce pain in his knee, and afterwards lost the power of it forever. It was believed the fairies injured him because he interfered with the fort.

- In some families when there is anyone dying the bean sidh always cries the night before. She was heard crying somewhere about Skreeney an that night a girl named Mc Adoo was drowned near the place where she heard. The girl fell off a hand railing which crossed the river and it is said it was for her the banshee cried.
