    The school house was left special,
    For to have a genteel ball,
    No man that ever worked a spade,
    Was wanted there at all
    A teacher, clerk a policeman,
    A doctor or a vet,
    Were the only fitting company
    To exercise their feet,
    Shopboys then as usual,
    Were hopping here and there,
    And where'er they chanced
    To get the Drink,
    Each man had got a share.

    I ventured to the thresh-hold,
    Along with three or four,
    And by the leader of the Choir,
    I was promptly shown the door,
    I quickly lost my temper,
    And said "Madam would you kiss,
    A spot I would not mention,
    But you all know what it is,"
    When things had settled down again,
    I ventured up once more,
    To see how they were doing,
    Inside the school house door,
