    plants about an acre of ground with potatoes. When he has the sods turned he cuts the potatoes and leaves a few eyes in them and these are called seed.
    Then he drops them down on the manure and leaves about a foot between each two seed.
    The he digs clay in the furrow between the two ridges and he puts it up on the ridge with spade.
    When he has the ridges "hearted" he digs mould in the furrow and breaks it up finely.
    Then he shovels it up on the ridge and the breadth of the ridge is about eighteen inches.
    After being about three weeks planted the stalk come up through the clay and he takes great care of them.
