    more care than the cow. He has to be rubbed down every day and we much keep him clipped and clean. We have to get shoes on him in the forge or he would get lame and not be able to work.
    The cows are milked twice a day in the morning and in the evening. Each cow gives three or four gallons of milk a day. If we want the cow to stand quietly for milking we scratch her on the neck and pet her by saying' "pluggy! pluggy! pluggy.
    Pigs are fed with meal and potatoes given to them in a vessel called a "trough." A fat pig fit for killing weights about two hundred. Young pigs are called "bonars," and slips
