- (continued from previous page)They come to the house early in the night and dance through the kitchen for an hour or so greeting the bride and the bridegroom and wishing them good luck. They give the bride the first dance. On this particular night there is great feasting and there is also great fun and happiness. At this feast eatables and drinks are provided consisting of fowl and other meats also vegetables tea and other sweet cake. At the breakfast the brides cake is divided. The bride, with the aid of the bridegroom cuts the first slice.
Many people like to sleep on a piece of the bride's cake because they believe that they will dream of whoever they are going to be married to.There are many other customs preserved at marriage feasts throughout all Ireland and many other places but they have not reached our district yet.- Collector
