- Long ago a grand-uncle of mine was in Carrick-on-Shannon for a few days.
When he went to bed the first night he dreamed that there was a pot of gold in his own meadow, and it was his father (that was long since dead) that told him. The second night he dreamed the same and the third night the same.
The fourth day he set off for home. He lived in the townland of Lonaugh and in the house we are living in now. That night he dug and dug. He had just come on the top of the pot when he saw a big crowd coming towards him. They must have been the "Little People". He left all there and ran for home.
In the morning there was nothing to be seen but a big hole in the ground.- Informant
