    She bolted the door of the room. The man broke through the door but he was caught between the boards.
    The woman killed the man with a churn-dash and her dog pulled the throat out of him.
    The dog then ran to the house where her husband was card-playing. The dog was let in, and he ran up to the table and scattered the cards. He was covered with blood.
    The man who spent most of his time in card-playing ceased the game from that day forth and "turned over" a new leaf. This happened in the townland of Gurteen.
