- The townland in which I live is called Corderry i.e. the turn or the twist of the oak trees. It is not a large townland having a population of thirty seven i.e. twenty females and seventeen males. There are only two people over seventy years of age. There seven families and seven houses three slated, on zinc and three thatched. All the houses but one are at least forty years old. There used to be a shirt factory for making linen cloth where William MacGowan's house stands Hugh Lyons Montgomery was a director it did not survive him long. The townland is divided by the Dromohair - Drumkeernan road. The part north of the road is marshy and boggy and the rest is good except for a piece of land belonging to Mr James Gallagher near the western border of the townland. It is bounded on the west by two two small streams, on the south by what is called the "Black Road", on the east and north by at stream and a mearing drain. About fifty years ago this district was owned by H. L. Montgomery.(continues on next page)
