    Sparrows build in eaves of houses.
    Goldfinches " in fences or hedges
    Cuckoo makes no nest but lays her egg usually in a robin's nest
    Corncrake builds in long grass or meadows her nest in on the ground.
    Snipe builds in bogs
    Pheasant " " woods and in oats
    Grouse builds on mountains, in the heather
    Water hen " on ground beside a lake or river
    Starlings build in eaves of houses
    Swallow build " " " "+ in barns.
    The old nests serve for several years.
    The Swift builds as the swallows do.
    The parent birds sit for three weeks + sometimes for four on the eggs.
    Boys are told that they will never get to Heaven if they rob birds' nests.
    When Swallows fly high it is a sign of fine weather and if they fly low it omens a bad spell.
    When seagulls + curlews give loud cries at night it omens bad weather.
