- "Simon an Gorrain". One of the Darcy families so called because one Simon Darcy was asked by a Frenchman to give a drink to his horses. Simon took the horse to the river but on the way was threatened for being disloyal and instead of returning with the horse he let him loose to go where he wished and Darcy himself fled home. He was afterward known by the nickname of "Simon an Gorrain"
