- Derrinvona is an old townland and so an old fortune teller beggar woman said it was the pass for the fairy sentry. There is an old house near Carrigans bond the people of Derrinvona saw a very dim light in it and heard music and dancing and when they went over to it there was no light nor music at all and another night a big crowd of fairies went through Derrinvona and they went out Carrigans hill and came back the next night.
