- Derrinvona is an old townland and so an old fortune teller beggar woman said it was the pass for the fairy sentry. There is an old house near Carrigans bond the people of Derrinvona saw a very dim light in it and heard music and dancing and when they went over to it there was no light nor music at all and another night a big crowd of fairies went through Derrinvona and they went out Carrigans hill and came back the next night.

- There is an old graveyard in Carrigan's land in Derrinvona. Every year the fairies pass this way. At day light in the morning a large crowd of fairies come down the valley and as they come near the graveyard they begin to talk and laugh and sing and make great noise and they keep at this until they go away.
