- Dan O'Donnell of Upper Fingreagh was evicted. George Hewstone who is still living at Dromahair was the agent. He arrived with police and sheriffs and evicted him and his wife and children out on the roadside. A large number of people gathered with drums and fifes to stop the eviction. A land grabber named Heatherington and another named Coyle took over the land but they were forced to give it up.
Myles McSwiney was evicted in Creevelea and a man named Ovens got the land but he was also forced to give it up. Evictions

If the people did not pay their rent to the landlord he evicted them. Then they were put to the road and neighbours used to take them in. After awhile they generally got back their houses. I know an old house on the old road between Kilbride and Drumkeerin which was the scene of an eviction. Some people used to fight those who came to evict them. They used to fire stones and everything they could get at them. Peter Flynn, Cloonemone Upper was caught and tried at Carrrick. He was sentenced to(continues on next page)- Collector
