- It was on July the eight,
I remember that date,
Now and for ever more,
When eight hundred fighting men,
Marched around Lake Allen shore,
When they landed in Drumkeeran,
The news went thro' the air,
The Brady's with their ass and cart,
Were coming from Dromahair.
The Brady's were surrounded,
On the road I do declare,
Oh! to see our brave young pikemen,
Swing shillalahs in the air,
Doonan ordered a baton charge,
To keep our boys at bay,
Our heroes rushed upon them,
And made them clear the way,
But, the braying of Tom Brady's ass,
Brought the forces of the Crown,
From every barrack station,
On to famed Drumkeeran town.- Collector
