   Lines written on St Patrick's Day (1889) parade in Ballinaglera by N. McCarthy, a wandering poet. He sang his compositions on the streets of Dowra and Drumkeeran. The young bloods of old Ireland As their fathers were before Whose names ar long recorded Around our native shore And far and near You all will cheer To hear this humble lay Your voices raise now here In praise of last St. Patrick's Day The sons of Ballinaglera And daughters could be seen With green ribbons flying And aloft the flag of green The band did play Upon that day Most sweetly up and down The flag it bore St Patrick And the harp without the Crown It would delight your heart To see those boys and girls As they passed by gallant Rynn's With music and with song
