One night an old man named Staffey Gilchrist went to a fort in Cultha where he knew there was a jug of poteen. He started to drink the poteen but he was kicked and beated by unseen people. When he used try to stand up, they used throw him down again. It took him hours to get home although his home was quite convenient to the fort.
- In the county of Roscommon, there was a man that owned a fort and the land around it. When a certain cow used calve, the man used say to the fairies in the fort "Ye may have all the cow's milk but feed the calf well". The man failed to pay the rent(continues on next page)
