- He was one John Reynolds by name and belonged to the great Reynolds family of Letterfine. Letterfine was a favourite spot of Finn Mac Cools and there was a monument on top of Sheebeg hill to Finn. And Diarmuid and Grainne slept at Letterfine and the great stone that Diarmuid raised for a pillow is there today opposite Packie Shonley's door in the field over Lough Scur and the old people called Lobby 'Diarmuid and Grainne. From the Creamery round to Pat Flynn's was the race-course for them and they ate on the top of the hill of Sheebeg. But that's a long way back and how the Reynolds came I don't know but they were there and are there yet.
The Reynolds were great people like the ORourkes and they owned the land down to Fenagh and had all the bogs of Longford for hunting and hawking. They are buried in Fenagh Abbey and even when St Ciallon was building the monastery at Fenagh they helped him.
