    If people were going to swap anything and that one of the things was better than the other the money or things that were given was balled "boot".
    There are a lot of games at fairs, one man would be holding a cart wheel on his chin, another would be lying on nails and a third would have a table of jewellery and any person who wished to win some article, had to by a ring and what ever the ring would fall on, that person had to get it. In another part of the town there would be animals and if you wished to see them had to pay two pence.
