- There was a man cutting turf in a bog on Meen one time. He had the turf nearly cut when he found a firkin of white tallow. He called the rest of the men and showed it to them. He took it home with him and carried it to town and sold it to a shopkeeper.
He asked the shopkeeper what he would do with it and he said he would vender it and make candles of it. An old man on the place said the firkin could have been buried there for many years.- Collector
