- Long ago the old people were supposed to turn bad luck over on their neighbours. If their cattle died they buried the dead animal in their neighbour's boundary fence unknown to him. When they did this the neighbour's cattle were supposed to die instead.
A certain farmer in Lixnaw parish had not luck with pigs, no matter how he cared them. One day the farmer and his servant were fencing the boundary ditch, and they found a pig's carcase buried in it.
