- In or about the year nineteen hundred and three a great storm blew over these parts. The force of the gale was terrific. It uprooted trees and took the roofs of many houses and buildings. One instance, it blew the covering of a cow-shed and carried it two miles away. Afterward some of the iron was discovered with the ends stuck four feet in the ground. It was very dangerous to be out-doors bu luckily enough it happened during the night when most people were in bed. Sometimes it was very violent and at other times it was so calm that you could travel with a lighted candle in your hand.
