- There was a man living in Derryglassin some years ago named Ned Dolly. He left his house one morning and walked to Tuam which was about twelve miles from his home to see a weaver.
When he returned home he found that some of his neighbours were gone to a fair in Clifden. He had no time to wait for his dinner and he got some meal and milk. He took his stick and walked to Galway which was about twenty miles.
He then went to Clifden which was about fifty miles more and landed there at daybreak.
