- The bread made long ago was all made from oat meal, baked in a griddle.
Some people baked the oat meal bread on the hearth, at that time there was no flour or wheaten meal.
Most of the people had their own meal, once in the day they used (have potatoes) eat bread that was for their breakfast, they used have potatoes and buttermilk for their dinner and supper. They used also make potato cake and boxty out of scraped potatoes. Some made oat cakes, cut them in casts and boiled them in a pot, they used to be rolled out with a rolling pin.- Collector
