    Old Trade
    Flannel Thickening
The old people of long ago used to thicker flannel by themselves. First they used to warm a pot of water on the fire and they used to put urine in the pot. Then they used to spread the flannel on a table and keep rubbing it with soap until would get thick like a foam on milk and when they used to be rubbing it awhile they used to measure it with a handle made of switches. That is how they used to measure flannel long ago. Then when they had it thickened they washed it in the warm water and urine and hung it out and left it out bleaching for a week and when they took it in it used to be pure white.
