  2. There is also a treasure in the shape of a pot of gold hidden somewhere near St. Michael's Well in Ballinageragh. Tradition has it that the Friars who had a Monastery there melted down the Sacred Vessels in order to save them from the Danes who are supposed to have plundered Ratto Abbey not far from Lixnaw toward the end of the 9th century.
