  1. Carrick-on-Shannon:
    This town is built in the bed of the river Shannon. It is supposed the Shannon flowed through the town once; but through the course of time, it altered its course by eating its way towards the right bank, leaving a marshy plain behind it. After some time as the place became dry, the people started building houses, thereby forming the present town of Carrick-on-Shannon.
    St Georges Terrace:
    Named after the St. Georges who once resided in Hatley Manor. This terrace is situated North of
