    Priests Lane:
    Many years ago the only house in the lane was occupied by the priest of the parish and hence its name.
    Rosebank:
    On the banks of the Shannon, a few hundred yards from the town was so named because an Admiral Gross, who formerly lived there, was so fond of roses, that he had the place a mass of roses. there are no roses there now.
    Corryoulish:
    Situated about a mile from Carrick-on-Shannon. In the olden times there is supposed to have been a hedge school there and hence its name
