  2. Some time ago a number of neighbours were rambling in our house. Each person told some story or riddle on turn. The funniest story was told by a man named James Earley. The following is the story that he told.
    "My house is situated convenient to the fort in our townland. The people who dwelt there before us were in bed very early one night. At about twelve o'clock they were awakened by some great noise as if of chasing round the house. The man of the house leaped out of bed and seeing his three
