    Mr Currigan. Croghan: told me he knows two houses at present having the fireplace in the centre of the floor and a hole in the roof to let out the smoke.

    The fireplace may be seen in the corner of the room in Mrs Mc Loughlins old house now condemned by the Board of Health and also in Miss Dockerys Priest Lane, Carrick-on-Shannon.
